TAMA-Ruth F. Bennett, age 89, of Marshalltown and formerly of Tama, died on Sunday, May 11, 2008 at Marshalltown Medical & Surgical Center due to a short illness. Graveside Services will be held Thursday, May 15, 2008 at 11:00 AM at the Helena Cemetery in rural Tama. Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 14, 2008 from 4-7 PM at the Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama.
Ruth was born on December 27, 1918, in rural Tama, on the family farm, the daughter of Colonel and Elizabeth (Hand) Villers.
On July 1, 1942, she was united in marriage to Harold Bennett in Kirksville, Missouri and they made their home in Tama. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Marshalltown. Ruth enjoyed gardening, mowing her lawn and being outside with nature. She was a wonderful mother and friend.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Harold in1994; three sisters, Geneva Kucera, Kathryn Steward and Louise Villers; and one brother, Harry Villers.
Survivors include her daughter, Linda Bennett of Marshalltown.
A memorial fund has been established.
