TAMA-Samson Keahna, age 61, of the Meskwaki Settlement died Thursday, April 5, 2007 in his home following a lingering illness. Traditional Graveside Services will be held on Friday, April 6, 2007 at 2:00 PM at Morgan Cemetery on the Settlement with Michael Keahna as speaker. A Traditional Wake will be held on Thursday evening, April 5 at the Fox Clan Ceremonial Building.
Samson Keahna was born on July 1, 1945, in Marshalltown, Iowa, the son of Dixon and Sarah (Bear) Keahna.
He graduated from high school and attended college. He served his country in the U.S. Army and served one tour of duty in Vietnam from March of 1966 to March of 1967. While in the Army, Samson was a military police officer. He was honorably discharged in October of 1968.
On April 21, 1967, he was united in marriage to Georgianna King in Chicago, Illinois
Preceding him in death were his parents; one sister, Sally; and one granddaughter, Alexandria.
Survivors include his wife, Georgianna; one brother, Dicky (Pam) Keahna; one adopted sister, Rae Jean Lasley of Tama; four sons, Sean Sr. (Eva) Keahna of Montour, Albert Keahna of Sioux City, Shannon Keahna of Tama, and Gus Dalton of Marshalltown; one adopted daughter, Frances Keahna of Boone; one half-brother, Nathan Bear of Tama; five grandchildren; numerous relatives, nieces and nephews.
