TOLEDO-Samuel Lloyd Curry, 73, of Toledo, passed away Monday, April 4, 2011 at his home. Visitation will be held Saturday, April 9, 2011 from 5-7 PM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama. Interment with military honors will be held at a future date.
Samuel was born on January 4, 1938, near Liscomb, Iowa, the son of Madison and Minnie (Hilsabeck) Curry.
His was a career Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Air Force. After retiring from the Air Force, he worked for Great Lakes Natural Gas in Bemidji, MN. Sam then moved to Toledo where he had a small engine repair shop. He was a member of the NRA and a lifetime member of the American Legion. Sam enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also was interested in military and western history.
Preceding him in death were his parents; three sons in infancy; three brothers, Jim Packer, Madison Dean Curry and an infant brother; and one sister, Phyllis Dent.
Survivors include his children, Christine Curry, Sam Curry Jr. and Scott Curry all of Bemidji, MN, Cathy Curry of North Dakota and Gina Whited of Ward, AR; several grandchildren; one brother, Alan (Verna) Packer of Washington; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A memorial fund has been established.
