Severn Daniel Jefferson, 17, of Tama, passed away Monday, February 24, 2014. Traditional Graveside Services will be held Wednesday, February 26, 2014, at 2:00 PM at the Morgan Cemetery on the Meskwaki Settlement in rural Tama with Larry Lasley Sr. as speaker. A Traditional Wake will be held Tuesday evening, February 25, 2014 at the Eagle Clan Ceremonial Building on the Meskwaki Settlement in rural Tama.

Severn was born on October 10, 1996, in Marshalltown, Iowa, the son of Justeen YoungBear and Daniel Jefferson Sr.
He graduated from Midland Park High School in Eldora in July of 2013. Severn enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, especially his nieces, Ardis "Gwash" and Ceira "Baby Bear".
Survivors include his parents, Justeen YoungBear and Eric Wilhelmi and Daniel Jefferson Sr.; his grandmother, Wanda Lasley; brothers, Dwight YoungBear, Joseph YoungBear and Daniel Jefferson Jr.; sisters, Alexis Dunsmoore, Addie Seymour, Ambrosia Jefferson, Ambrea Jefferson and Nevaeh Jefferson; uncles, Jerry YoungBear Jr., Dustin Jefferson, Willis Lasley, Albert (Tina) Byles and Jesse Fonseca; aunts, Jerilyn (Manuel) Balderas, Tarah YoungBear (Max Bear Jr.), Consuelo (Chava) Aguilara and Jessica Fonseca; adopted grandfathers, Delmer Whitebreast and Elmer Roberts; adopted uncle, Larry Dye; and cousins, Paula, Jessica, Steff, Jerika, Honey Jo, Dennis, Max III and many more cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Jerry YoungBear Sr., his grandmother, Addie Jefferson; and his uncle, Jared YoungBear.
