Sharlene Mae Zhorne, 77, of Tama, passed away surrounded by family on Thursday, August 31, 2023 at UnityPoint-Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. Graveside Services will be held Tuesday, September 26, 2023 at 11:00AM at Haven Cemetery in rural Tama.

Sharlene was born on September 21, 1945, in Toledo, Iowa, the daughter of Lester and Mabel (Dolezal) Zhorne.

She attended Richland No. 4 school and graduated from Tama High School. Sharlene worked at Pioneer Seed Company and Pilgrim Heights for many years. She also babysat for multiple families and was a teacher's aide in her lifetime.

Sharlene collected owls, teddy bears and dolls. She loved jigsaw puzzles, playing cards, reading and enjoyed coloring books. Sharlene was a very self-sufficient lady, taking care of her own lawn and other chores around the house.

Survivors include her sister, Betty (Roger) Smith of Toledo; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her brother, James Zhorne; and her niece, Alicia Baylor.

Memorials made in her name, may be directed to the Food Pantry or the Tama Public Library.
