Shawn "Smitty" Milea Smith, 28, of Tama, passed away Thursday, October 12, 2017 at his home. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, October 25, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama with Pastor Adam Todd officiating. Interment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in rural Tama. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 24 from 5-7 PM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama.


Shawn was born on December 26, 1988, in Iowa City, Iowa, the son of Randy and LeNita (Staker) Smith.
He graduated from South Tama County High School in 2007. Shawn enjoyed spending time with family and friends, fishing, video gaming, and watching Seahawk and Hawkeye Football.


Left to cherish his memory is his significant other, Lindsey Timm of Tama; their 16 month old daughter, Lyanna Smith; his parents, Randy and LeNita Smith of Tama; two brothers, Randy (Mary) Smith Jr. of Newton and Seton Smith of Toledo; grandmother, Phyllis Smith of Tama; nieces and nephews, Sierra, Breanna, Cody, Josie, Randy III, Scotty, Savannah, and Isaac; uncle, Loyce (Rhonda) Staker of Toledo; and several cousins.


Preceding him in death were his maternal grandparents, LeMoine and Leila Staker and paternal grandfather, Abner Smith.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund will be established for his daughter, Lyanna.
