TAMA-Shirlene K. Eagle, age 79, of Tama, died Friday, October 8, 2010 at her home under the care of Iowa River Hospice. Traditional Graveside Services will be held Saturday, October 9, 2010 at 2 PM at the Morgan Cemetery on the Settlement in rural Tama. A Traditional Wake will be held Friday evening at the Fox Clan Ceremonial Building on the Meskwaki Settlement, rural Tama.
Shirlene was born on November 21, 1930, on the Meskwaki Settlement, the daughter of Kenneth and Helen (Old Bear) Kapayou.
Before her retirement, Shirlene was a realty officer with the Bureau of Indian Affairs. In her spare time she liked to sew, play bone dice, and enjoyed going out to eat.
Preceding her in death were her parents and two brothers.
Survivors include her children, Val Lussier of Tama, Elise Lussier of Lafayette, CO, and Mark Eagle of Aberdeen, SD; three sisters, Marge and Sharon Mauskemo both of Tama, and Wanda Kapayou of Des Moines; and several nieces and nephews.
