Shirley Kay (Hartman) Neave, 72, of Tama, passed away Tuesday, February 9, 2016 at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. A Memorial Gathering will be held Friday, February 12, 2016 at the Tama Meskwaki Celebration Assembly of God Church from 10-11 AM with a Memorial Service following at 11:00 AM. Private Interment will be held at a later date.
Shirley was born on June 12, 1943, in Tama, Iowa, the daughter of Erma Hartman and Cletus Crawford.
She graduated from Tama High School and attended some college.
Shirley worked as a teacher at Head Start in Chelsea. She later cooked at the Tama-Toledo Country Club, and for eighteen plus years at the Tama County Home. Shirley enjoyed time with family, cooking, knitting and going to the casino.
Survivors include one daughter, Dawn (Kurt) Steuhm; one son, Martine (Sami) Neave; seven grandchildren, Cassy (Arturo) Avila, Kyle Purk, Jaylee Neave, Makayla Neave, Bryce Neave, Alana Neave, Aaron Neave; her great-grandchildren, Michael Avila and a great-granddaughter on the way; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her parents; one son, Jeramie Neave; one sister, Florence Norris; two brothers, Alfred Peterson and Ernie Hartman; and one great-niece, Wendy Ribby.
A memorial fund has been established.
