Shirley Marie Henle, 88, of Toledo passed away Wednesday, March 4, 2015 at the Iowa River Hospice Home in Marshalltown. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, March 7, 2015 at 10:00 AM at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Tama with Father Michael Mescher as celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Patrick's Cemetery in Tama. Visitation will be held on Friday, March 6, 2015 from 5-7 PM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama.
Shirley was born on September 24, 1926, in Marshalltown, Iowa, the daughter of Roy and Henrietta (Couch) Fraker.
She started school in Conrad, Iowa and was a graduate of Toledo High School and Thompson Beauty School in Des Moines.
On June 21, 1948, she was united in marriage to Dale Henle at the St. Patrick Catholic Church in Tama. Shirley was a cook in the South Tama School District for thirty years at the Middle School. She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Tama where she was also in the C.C.W. Shirley enjoyed collecting chickens, traveling, entertaining her grandkids and great-grandkids and watching Dale play Cribbage.
Survivors include her husband of sixty six years, Dale of Toledo; two sons, Ron (Debby) Henle of Mt. Pleasant and Rodney (Patty) Henle of Toledo; four grandchildren, Scott (Beth) Henle of Iowa Falls, Jill Smith of Batavia, IA, Alison Henle of Toledo and Aaron (Whitney) Henle of Manhattan, KS; six great-grandchildren, Frank, Mavis, Will, Ashtyn, Kinley and Berkley; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her parents; infant son, Dennis Dale; two brothers, Jesse (Cuma) Fraker and Chet (Oma) Fraker.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to Iowa River Hospice.
