Shirley Jo Llewellyn, 86, of Toledo, passed away Monday, September 20, 2021 at UnityPoint Health-Grinnell Regional Medical Center. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, September 23, 2021 at 1:00 PM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Toledo. Visitation will be held Wednesday, September 22, 2021 from 5-7 PM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home.
Shirley was born on September 14, 1935, in Des Moines, Iowa, the daughter of Joe and Berniece (Allsup) Gilmore. She grew up in Linden, Iowa.
On December 31, 1952, she was united in marriage to John E. Llewellyn in Guthrie Center, Iowa. Shirley previously worked as a cook at Fireside Restaurant in Toledo for ten years and the Tama-Toledo Country Club for five years. She also worked as a night Supervisor at the Juvenile Home in Toledo. Shirley was a member of the Grace Community Church in Toledo and the American Legion Auxiliary. She was an excellent cook and baker. Shirley liked to play cards, Bingo, and go fishing. John and Shirley wintered in Texas for many years.
Survivors include three daughters, Cindy (Dennis) Lorenzen of Atkins, Marcy (Brian) Lindstrom of Highland, UT, and Shelley (Ron) Sadler of Chariton; one son, Tom (Deb) Llewellyn of Tama; nineteen grandchildren; twenty-seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, John in 2014; one daughter, Shannon Medrano; one brother, Robert Wade; and one sister, Jean Bish.
