Shirley Anne Wacha, 82, of Tama, passed away Wednesday, November 28, 2012 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. Funeral Services will be held Monday, December 3, 2012 at 10:30 AM at Living Faith United Methodist Church in Tama with Pastor Brian Oliver officiating. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Toledo. Visitation will be held Sunday, December 2, 2012 from 5-7 PM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama.
Shirley was born on May 29, 1930, in Tama, Iowa, the daughter of Frank and June (Gandy) Turner.
She attended Tama High School.
On May 16, 1948, she was united in marriage to James J. Wacha in Albion, Iowa. Shirley was a member of Living Faith United Methodist Church in Tama where she was involved in UMW. She was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary and American Legion Auxiliary. Shirley loved cooking, baking, gardening and was a beautiful seamstress. She also enjoyed selling goods at the Farmers Market. Shirley's greatest joy was spending time with her family. Shirley had incredible wit and an amazing sense of humor.
Preceding her in death were her parents; two sons, James Craig "Butch" and Joel Edward Wacha; one sister, Alene Bolen; and one brother, Robert Turner.
Survivors include her husband of sixty-four years, James J. of Tama; her children, Linda (David) Sutherland of Montezuma, LaDonna (Roger) Garin of Cedar Rapids, Jeffrey (Garry Bowie) Wacha of Long Beach, CA, and Jay (Sandra) Wacha of Ozark, MO; seven grandchildren; five great-granddaughters; a sister-in-law, Madonna Turner of Center Point, OR; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial fund has been established.
