Obituary

TOLEDO-Sonja Lou Kasal, 72, of Toledo passed away Saturday, February 4, 2012 at Iowa River Hospice Home in Marshalltown. A Memorial Service will be held Friday, February 17, 2012 at 2:00 PM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama with Pastor John Janke officiating. Private Interment will be held at a future date. A Memorial Visitation will be held Thursday, February 16, 2012 from 6-8 PM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama.
Sonja was born on July 17, 1939, in Knoxville, Iowa, the daughter of Delno and Ruby (Pope) Hall.
She graduated from Toledo High School.
On June 5, 1957, she was united in marriage to Roger L. "Frog" Kasal at the Methodist parsonage in Toledo. Sonja was a teacher's aide in the South Tama School District from 1981 until her retirement in 2004. In her spare time, she enjoyed going to the casino.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roger "Frog" Kasal; her parents; and one sister, Sue Christianson.
Survivors include four children, Deb (Herbie) Wilson of Marshalltown, Lori Grommet of Marshalltown, Rick (Lisa Billington) Kasal of Grand Island, NE, and Nancy (Mark) Wolken of Marshalltown; fifteen grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; one brother, Gary (Linda) Hall of Knoxville, IA; and many nieces and nephews.
