TOLEDO –Terry Lang Leonard, age 57, of Muscatine, formerly of Toledo, died Thursday, December 24, 2009 at his home in Muscatine. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, December 30, 2009 at 11:00 AM at the Christ United Methodist Worship Center in Toledo with Pastor Mary Schnepf officiating. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Toledo. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 29, 2009 from 5 to 7 PM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama.
Terry was born on January 1, 1952, in Long Beach, CA, the son of Lang J. and Elizabeth (Barnett) Leonard.
He graduated from South Tama County High School in 1971.
On July 28, 2000, he was united in marriage to Rhonda Staker in Muscatine. He was an owner of Rolling Oats Limited Trucking Company. Terry enjoyed spending time in his backyard where he loved landscaping, working with plants, flowers, and birdhouses. He also enjoyed riding motorcycles with friends and going on trips. Terry was a very generous and giving person who liked to help people. His greatest enjoyment was spending time with family and friends. In his younger years, he liked riding his horses, Sonny and Poco and was a member of the Ridge Riders Saddle Club.
Preceding him in death were grandparents.
Survivors include his wife, Rhonda of Muscatine; his mother, Elizabeth (Jack) Bates of Tama; his father, Lang J. (Eris) Leonard of Cedar Rapids; five children, Tammy (John) Leonard-Fuller of Omaha, NE, L. D. Leonard of Gilman, Eric Leonard of Clear Water, FL, Daniel Leonard of Des Moines, and Marshall Leonard of Cedar Rapids; seven grandchildren; three sisters, Brenda Lukasko of Cedar Rapids, Nancy (Mike) Purk of Toledo and Sharon Campbell of Toledo; a step-brother, Scot (Shelley) Taylor of Tama; his aunt, Sue (Paul) Allen of Trenton, MO; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial fund has been established.
