Thomas Frank Crone, 79, of Tama, passed away Tuesday, January 17, 2023 at UnityPoint Health/St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids. Per Thomas' wishes, he will be cremated and there will be no public services.

Thomas was born on December 3, 1943, in Washington, Iowa, the son of John and Alice (Root) Crone.

He graduated from Mid Prairie High School in Washington, Iowa.

Thomas was a Radioman in the U.S. Navy during Vietnam.

On May 12, 1973, he was united in marriage to Eileen Bartling in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Tom worked at Donaldson Company in Grinnell and also did auto body restorative work. He enjoyed woodworking, motorcycles, sports cars and traveling. Tom was a tinkerer and could fix anything. He loved his sweets and spoiling his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife of forty-nine years, Eileen of Tama; his children, Kimberly Crone of MN, Shane (Mandy) Crone of GA, Sarah (Ed) Westemeier of Thornton, Thomas Crone Jr. (Jenny Nguyen) of FL, Alice Crone of Muscatine and Marlena Crone of Muscatine; nineteen grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; daughter-in-law, Audria Gay of TX; sister, Phyllis Scott of GA; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his parents; a son, Sean; sister, Judith Beechner; and brother, Jack Crone.

A memorial fund will be established.
