MARSHALLTOWN-Thomas F. McIntire, age 72, of Marshalltown and formerly of Toledo, died on Friday, September 14, 2007 at Grandview Heights in Marshalltown due to a lengthy illness. Public Graveside Services will be held Monday, September 17, 2007 at 10:30 AM at Hayes Cemetery, rural Toledo. Visitation will be held Sunday, September 16, 2007 from 4-7 PM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama.
Thomas F. McIntire was born on February 26, 1935, in Tama, Iowa, the son of Harold and Thelma (Trout) McIntire.
He grew up in rural Toledo and went to grade school at Otter Creek Township School. He attended high school for three years in Tama and then graduated from Toledo High School in 1952.
On August 28, 1955, he was united in marriage to Alice Marsh in Inland Township, Michigan. He spent his life as a builder skilled in masonry and carpentry. He was also skilled in the machine shop. He also enjoyed being an amateur radio operator. In later years, Tom became a Mason and a member of Marshall Lodge #108.
Preceding him in death were his parents.
Survivors include his wife Alice of Marshalltown; four children, twins, Brenda (Dan) Doyle of rural Toledo and Sheryl (Mark) Rutledge of Tama, James (Gladys) McIntire of Marshalltown and Doug (Maria) McIntire of Texas; six grandchildren, Andrea (Rutledge) Craun, Brandon (Amber) Rutledge, Gabe (Vicki) Doyle, Chad (Deb) Clark, Xavier Morales and Sarah Calderon; five great-grandchildren, Riley Craun, Peyton Craun, Paige Doyle, Rachel Doyle and Alexa Clark.
A memorial fund has been established.
