Toni Lea Lasley, 77, of Tama, passed away, Wednesday, February 25, 2026, at UnityPoint-Grinnell Regional Medical Center. A Traditional Wake will be held Thursday, February 26, 2026 at the Eagle Clan Ceremonial Building on the Meskwaki Settlement, rural Tama. A Traditional Graveside Service will be held Friday, February 27, 2026 at 2:00 PM at Morgan Cemetery on the Meskwaki Settlement, rural Tama with Larry Lasley as speaker

Toni was born on June 1, 1948, in a Wikiyabi on the Meskwaki Settlement, the daughter of Clifford and Minnie (Old Bear) Lasley.

Toni graduated from Tama High School and received her BA from Buena Vista University. Toni was previously employed at Fisher Controls in Marshalltown for many years, Meskwaki Bingo Casino Hotel, and was a language and culture teacher at the Meskwaki Settlement School.

Toni was a champion bowler, did beadwork, made yarn belts, basket weaving, and other traditional Meskwaki arts and crafts. She was an Iowa Hawkeye Fan. Toni enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Survivors include her son, Brent; grandchildren, Sophia, Syrus, and Sorin; nephews, Larry Sr. (Marcine), Orrie Jr. (Sonja), Joey (Nana); nieces, Laurie (Javier), Leigh, and Allison; adopted brothers, Sidney Keahna, and Henry Hunter; aunts, Rae Jean and V. Wanda Lasley; her sister cousins, Debra Douglas, Adri Mauskemo, and Pamela Balderas; and numerous extended family members.

Preceding her in death were her parents; brothers, Larry, Orrie Sr., and Gerard; paternal grandparents, Harvey and Kiwena White Breast Lasley; maternal grandmother, Mary Mitchell; maternal grandfather, Peter Old Bear; and many beloved aunts, uncles, and cousins.
