Obituary

Tracy Brady, 62, of Tama, passed away Friday, September 20, 2013 at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, September 25, 2013 at 10:00 AM at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Tama with Father Michael Mescher as celebrant. There will be a private family interment at Maple Hill Cemetery in Montour. Visitation will be held Tuesday, September 24, 2013 from 4-8 PM at the St. Patrick Catholic Church in Tama.


Tracy was born on July 2, 1951, in Des Moines, Iowa. He was raised by his grandparents, Walter and Dorothy Sturtz.
He graduated from South Tama High School in 1969, and attended the University of Northern Iowa.
On August 3, 1974, he was united in marriage to Rosemary DeFino in Des Moines, Iowa. Tracy owned and operated Brady and Associates in Tama. He was in the insurance business for forty-two years. He was an EMT for the Tama Ambulance Service and was presently serving as director. Tracy was a member of the St. Patrick Catholic Church in Tama, Toastmasters, Tama Lions Club and later Tama-Toledo Lions Club, STC Booster Club, and Tama-Toledo Jaycees. He was an avid supporter of the Tama community. Tracy was the South Tama County football announcer for over twenty years.
Tracy enjoyed remodeling homes, morning coffee groups and attending sports activities for his children and grandchildren. He also enjoyed playing "Santa" in the community.
Survivors include his wife of thirty-nine years, Rosemary of Tama; his son, Brion Brady of Seattle, WA; his daughter, Tara (Mike) Tomlinson of Ankeny; two grandchildren, Ava and Ryan Tomlinson; one brother, Don Cacek of Marshalltown; one sister, Shannon (Rob) Williams of Missoula, MT; and his parents-in-law, Anthony and Mary DeFino of Des Moines.
Tracy was preceded in death by his family members, Walter and Dorothy Sturtz, Charles and Shirley Cacek, aunts and uncles.
