Tressa Mae Youngbear, 78, of Tama, passed away Thursday, October 1, 2026 at UnityPoint Health-Marshalltown. As per her wishes, there will be no services.

Tressa was born on May 22, 1948, in Grinnell, Iowa, the daughter of Leroy and Gailene (Pebbles) Ashley.

She graduated from Goldfield, Iowa, High School.

On November 20, 1973, she married Irvin Youngbear in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Tressa was the director of the Iowa Substance Abuse Information Center held in the Cedar Rapids library. In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening, cooking, reading, scrapbooking, puzzles, and bird watching. She loved to travel and recently visited Italy and Greece. Her greatest joy was her family and laughing with them. Her cat, Mr. Spoiled, and grand dog, Elsa, were also joys in her life.

Survivors include her husband, Irvin of Tama; two daughters, Karrie Youngbear of Overland Park, KS, and Kathy Youngbear of Boston, MA; one granddaughter, Hannah Youngbear of Overland Park, KS; and one sister, Rose Cooksley of Earlville.

Preceding her in death were her parents; and siblings, Patricia, Donna, Joe, Judy, Butch, Frannie, and Lois.
