TOLEDO- Vera M. Graff, age 96, a resident of Carrington Place in Toledo and formerly of Tama and Sheridan, died Friday, January 15, 2010 at the center under the care of Iowa Hospice. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, January 20, 2010 at 10:30 AM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama. Interment will follow at Sheridan Cemetery in rural Malcom. Visitation will be Tuesday, January 19 from 4-7 PM at the Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama.
Vera was born on June 8, 1913, in rural Tama County, Iowa, the daughter of John and Maria (Pagel) Frahm.
She attended Columbia School #9 in rural Tama County.
On October 24, 1936, she was united in marriage to Allan Graff in Charles City, Iowa. She and her husband ran the Sheridan Store south of Tama for many years. Vera was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church south of Tama and was involved in many church activities over the years. She also attended the Sheridan Methodist Church. Vera enjoyed plastic canvas craftwork and crocheting.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Allan in 1988; two brothers, Harry and Lester Frahm; and two sisters, Nellie Graff and Verna Kellogg.
Survivors include two daughters, Kay (Nick) Gloe of Cedar Rapids and Jo (Bill) Darter of Toledo; four grandchildren, Christopher (Beth) Gloe of Madison, AL, Katie (Matthew) Cervantes of Cedar Rapids, Jon (Linda) Darter of Anoka, MN and Jason (Rosa Granados) Darter of Tama; five step-grandchildren, Jeff (Chris) Darter of Rocheport, MO, Joe (Mai) Darter of Marshalltown, Rae Ann (Stuart) Jacobs of Lewisville, TX, John (Kelly) Darter of St. Louis, MI and Peggy (Joe) Hannam of Marshalltown; three great-grandchildren, Eleanor Cervantes, Samantha Gloe and Braylon Darter; twelve step-great grandchildren, Megan, Emily and Michael Darter, Chelsea Darter, Kate, Sam and Ben Jacobs, Zachary and Jacob Darter, Matthew, Raechel and Olivia Hannam.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
