TOLEDO- Vera Hruby, 83, of Tama, formerly of Toledo passed away, Tuesday, December 25, 2012 at Sunny Hill Care Center in Tama under the care of Iowa River Hospice. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 29, 2012 at 10:30 AM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama with Pastor Dale Bucich officiating. Interment will follow at National Cemetery in rural Vining. Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 29 from 9:30 – 10:30 AM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama.
Vera was born on January 18, 1929 in the Waltham area of Tama County, Iowa, the daughter of Frank and Christina (Rajman) Karkosh. She graduated from Belle Plaine High School and from beauty school in Cedar Rapids. She was united in marriage to Harry L. Hruby on May 11, 1948 at the Vining Congregational Church. Vera had her own beauty shop in Toledo for many years. She enjoyed golf, bowling, and dancing.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Harry in 1980; one brother, Louis Karkosh; and two sisters, Millie Cizek and Lillian Waterbeck.
Survivors include one sister, Helen Hruby of Toledo; two nieces; and four nephews.
