Vernon Dale Krezek, 88, of Clutier, passed away Sunday, February 7, 2016 at Sunrise Hill Care Center in Traer under the care of Cedar Valley Hospice. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, February 12, 2016 at 10:30 AM at St. Paul Catholic Church in Traer with Father Ray Atwood as celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Wenceslaus Cemetery in rural Clutier. Visitation will be held Thursday, February 11, 2016 from 5-7 PM at the St. Paul Catholic Church in Traer.

Vernon was born on January 10, 1928, in Clutier, Iowa, the son of William and Lizzie (Cizek) Krezek.
Vernon attended school in Clutier and made farming his lifelong career with his son.
On November 27, 1947, he married Leona Yuska in Clutier. He and his wife lived on the farm their entire married life. He loved the land, and was a very dedicated farmer. He had a special love of animals, especially his dogs. He also enjoyed gardening, canning and carpentry. Vernon was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church in Traer.
Survivors include one daughter, Judy (Steve) Hook of Le Grand; one son, Randy (Judy) Krezek of Clutier; one son-in-law, Mark McCrary of Traer; five grandchildren, Tami (Tim) Kruse, Todd McCrary, Ryan (Carrie) Hook, Jacey (Jason) Fischer and Jillisa (Chad) Halverson; ten great-grandchildren; and one sister-in-law, Albina Krizek of Waterloo.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Leona on January 16, 2015; one daughter, Joleen McCrary on March 19, 2015; and one brother, Laverne Krizek.
A memorial fund has been established.
