Virginia Ruth Mildenstein, 91, of Topeka, KS, formerly of Tama, passed away Tuesday, December 8, 2015 at McCrite Plaza Retirement Community in Topeka, KS. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, December 12, 2015 at 10:30 AM at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Tama with Pastor Warren Riley officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Tama. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services Saturday at the church.
Virginia was born on February 5, 1924, in Belle Plaine, Iowa, the daughter of Walter B. and Myrtle B. (Fisher) Kriegel. She moved to Tama when she was a young girl. Virginia graduated from Tama High School.
She was united in marriage to Arlo Engel Mildenstein on August 5, 1946 in Tama, Iowa. After their marriage, she and Arlo lived in Waterloo. They moved to Emporia, Kansas in 1974 where they resided until Virginia recently moved to Topeka, KS due to health reasons. She was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church in Emporia, KS. She was a homemaker and loved her family very much. She also enjoyed shopping, bird watching and collecting stuffed animals along with many other things.
Survivors include one son, Arlo J. Mildenstein of Topeka, KS; two granddaughters, Saunja Mildenstein and Tamara Cline and husband Steven; two great-grandchildren, Llewellyn and Connor Cline; and three sisters-in-law, Beverly Kriegel of Marion, Lois Kriegel of Tama, and Norma Kriegel of Tama.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Arlo on April 11, 2010; three brothers, Bill, Jack, and Walter Kriegel; her daughter-in-law, Barb Mildenstein; and a nephew, Steven Kriegel.
Memorials may be directed to a charity of the donor's choice.
