Virginia Maxine Wiese, 91, of Toledo, passed away Monday, December 16, 2013 at Carrington Place of Toledo under the care of Iowa Hospice. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, December 21, 2013 at 10:00 AM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home with Rev. Dewey Grimes officiating. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Toledo. Visitation will be held Friday, December 20, 2013 from 5-7 PM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama.
Virginia was born on September 18, 1922, in Imperial Valley, CA, the daughter of Joseph and Rose (Kucera) Dostal.
On June 12, 1940, she was united in marriage to Gilvan Franklin Wiese in Marshalltown, Iowa. Virginia was employed at the State Juvenile Home in Toledo for many years. She was a former member of the Oak Ridge Homemakers Club.
Virginia was a fun loving, energetic lady. She especially loved polka dancing, traveling all over the Midwest to Polka dances. She also enjoyed playing cards.
Survivors include her daughter, Sandy (Ron) Fowler of Chelsea; her daughter-in-law, Rose Ann Wiese of Toledo; seven grandchildren, Mark, Rod, and Gary Fowler, Doug, David, Dara and Dirk Wiese; and nine great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Gilvan on March 6, 1998; her son, Roger Wiese on October 12, 2003; her brother, Bob Dostal; her granddaughter-in-law, Diane Fowler; and four infant siblings.
A memorial fund has been established.
