Wayne L. Reinbrecht, 87, of Marshalltown and formerly of Tama, passed away, Saturday, March 29, 2014 at Marshalltown Medical & Surgical Center. A Memorial Visitation will be held Thursday, April 3, 2014 from 5 to 7 PM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama with a Memorial Service following at 7:00 PM. Pastor Brian Oliver will be officiating. Private inurnment will be held at a later date.
Wayne was born on a farm near Wilton, Iowa on December 4, 1926, the son of Lloyd and Elsie (Thede) Reinbrecht.
He graduated from West Branch High School.
Wayne served his country in the U.S. Air Force during World War II.
He moved to West Branch, Iowa in 1936, where his father operated a hardware and furniture store. In 1948, Wayne moved to Tama, Iowa, where he operated a hardware and furniture store until 1993. He also raised Registered Angus Cattle on a farm on the edge of Tama which he enjoyed very much. On January 17, 1954, he was married to Madeline Timp at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Marshalltown. He was a member of the American Legion. In 2004, Wayne and Madeline moved to Marshalltown, Iowa. Wayne was an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan for many years ever since seeing Nile Kinnick play. They also enjoyed traveling.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Madeline of Marshalltown; two sons, William (Pam) Reinbrecht of Omaha, NE and Robert Reinbrecht of Bloomington, IL; two grandsons, Robert D. Reinbrecht and Rhett Reinbrecht both of Bloomington, IL; one brother, Robert K. (Mary) Reinbrecht of Tama.
Preceding him in death were his parents.
A memorial fund has been established.
