Obituary

Wesley Grant Tomlinson, 89, of Traer, passed away Tuesday, April 15, 2025, at his home due to a sudden illness. Graveside Services will be held Friday, April 18, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Buckingham Cemetery in Traer with Rev. Benjamin Baker officiating. There will be a luncheon following the Graveside Service at St. Luke Evangelical Lutheran Church, 207 Taylor Street in Traer.

Wesley was born on September 21, 1935, in Waterloo, Iowa, the son of William and Janet (Addison) Tomlinson.

He graduated from Dinsdale High School in the Class of 1954.

Wesley served his country in the U.S. Army, as he was drafted during the Korean Conflict from April 1958-March 1960 in the artillery division.

On June 24, 1962, he was united in marriage to Jeanette LeFevre at St. Luke Evangelical Lutheran Church in Traer. Wesley crop farmed, but his passion was his cattle operation. He also worked at Rath Packing in Waterloo for a short time.

Wesley was a member of St. Luke Evangelical Church in Traer. In his spare time, he liked to tinker, and also build and fix things. Wesley was always ahead of the times on his farming techniques and cattle operation.

Survivors include his wife of sixty-two years, Jeanette of Traer; daughter, Wendy (Frank) Powers of Adel; four grandchildren, Haley Harms of Traer, Colby (Kailee) Harms of LaPorte City, Maddison (Matt) Pullen of Dubuque, and Brianna Powers of Adel; four great-grandchildren, Jocelyn, Ryder, Briar, and Karsyn; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his daughter, Renae Tomlinson; and brother, Donald Tomlinson.
