TOLEDO-William "Billy" Murphy, age 43, of Toledo died Saturday June 12, 2010 at his home. Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, June 15, 2010 at 10:00 AM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama. Private interment will be held at Hillside Cemetery in Cedar Falls. A memorial visitation will be held from 9:00 AM until time of service on Tuesday at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama.
Billy was born on December 4, 1966 in Waterloo, Iowa the son of Raymond and Kathy (Handlen) Murphy. After completing his GED, Billy attended Hawkeye Community College in Waterloo for two years. He worked as a mechanic and auto body technician, most recently at Roy's Auto in Tama and Chyma's Machine Shop in Toledo. In his spare time, he enjoyed four-wheeling, camping, and drag racing.
Preceding him in death were maternal grandfather, Hollis Handlen; paternal grandparents, Evelyn Keetley and Edward Murphy; a brother Jay Murphy; and an aunt, uncles, and cousins.
Survivors include one daughter, Melissa Joines of Cedar Falls; one grandson, Jaden Stark of Cedar Falls; mother, Kathy (Ron) Zars of Toledo; father, Raymond (Candy) Murphy of Vinton; grandmother, Margaret Behrens of Evansdale; significant other, Kacee Wilson of Toledo; step-son, Anthony Wilson of Toledo; two sisters, Deanna (Eric) Stabenow of Chariton and Shannon Murphy (Pat) of Deep River; three brothers, Jimmy Murphy of Vinton, Christian Murphy of Cedar Rapids, and Ray Murphy Jr. of Vinton; mother-in-law, Sandra Hixson of Toledo; father-in-law, John (Lynne) Wilson of Toledo; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
