Obituary

TAMA-William Franklin Rutledge, 65, of Tama, passed away Sunday, October 6, 2013, at Carrington Place of Toledo under the care of Iowa River Hospice. A Military Committal Service will be held on Thursday, October 10, 2013 at 2:00 PM at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Van Meter, Iowa.
William was born on November 24, 1947, in Clarion, Iowa, the son of Oscar Franklin and Charlene Bernice (Kellogg) Rutledge.
He graduated from Des Moines Technical High School.
William served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War for one tour.
He was previously was employed in Long Beach, California in the ship yards as a pipefitter and also at Swift's in Marshalltown. William liked to fish and he collected eagles and John Wayne memorabilia.
Survivors include one sister, Audrey Evans of Toledo; two brothers, Steven (Elinor) Rutledge of Toledo and Raymond (Barbara) Rutledge of Buena Park, CA; and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding in death were his parents; one sister, Evelyn Kinney; and one brother, Larry Rutledge.
A memorial fund has been established.
Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home, Tama-Toledo, is assisting the family with the arrangements.
