TOLEDO-Winifred M. Croskey, 83, of Toledo, passed away Tuesday, April 26, 2011 at her home under the loving care of her family and friends. Funeral Services will be held Friday, April 29, 2011 at 1:00 PM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Toledo. Visitation will be held Thursday, April 28, 2011 from 5 to 7 PM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama.
Winifred was born on April 4, 1928 in Marshalltown, Iowa, the daughter of James S. and Rebecca E. (Graham) Warnell.
On December 16, 1945, she was united in marriage to Melvin E. Croskey at the Tama Methodist Church. Winifred was a homemaker until her husband passed away and then she worked at the Juvenile Home in Toledo. Winifred was known as "Momo" by many. She liked dancing, being with her friends, doing activities with her neighbors at Willow Apartments and going to the casino. She was a great mom and always put others before herself.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband Melvin E. Croskey in 1980; one grandson, Seth Croskey; six brothers, Paul, Clay, Bob, Roger, Richard, and Wayne Warnell; and one sister, Marilyn Lannigan.
Survivors include four children, John W. (Doris) Croskey of Mesa, AZ, Michael G. (Linda) Croskey of Marshalltown, Buzz (Bonnie) Croskey of Toledo and Kathy (Ron) Humbers of Toledo; eighteen grandchildren; twenty-eight great-grandchildren; three brothers, Carl Warnell of Marshalltown, McKinley Warnell of Bella Vista, AR, and Wayne (Tonya) Warnell of Marshalltown; many nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Daryl Goodlow of Deep River.
A memorial fund has been established.
